GEN 1 change spark plugs....

My 6.2 has 70,000 miles on it and im going to keep it for at least another year. When should plugs be freshened up?

I believe the plugs are rated to 100k, so they should be fine as long as you don't see any issues with how the truck runs or mpg. I don't plan to change mine until 75k at the earliest. It's got 16 spark plugs after all.

They are 100,000 mile plugs but i always change 20k or more sooner. Don't care what they say you can see the wear and the truck runs better. Also they can seize so get them early & apply anti-seize to the threads. Have a woobbly end extension, plug socket & 4 hrs. Not fun.

160k on stock plugs checking in. I plan to change, but Ford service said if I have no misfire or bad mpg dont worry about it.

I just had the plugs changed on my patrol unit, which is a 2007 Dodge Durango 4.7L V8 with two plugs per cylinder. My unit has 150,000 miles on it, and this was the first spark plug change. Those plugs looked pretty bad. They began life at the factory gapped at 0.040 and after 150K miles they were burned down to a gap of 0.060. After the plug change the fuel mileage went from about 12.5 to about 14.5 - a significant difference.

I would not believe what Ford service told you.

Good idea. The top 8 are really easy to get to and change. It took ~4 of the 8 hours installing the entire Procharger kit to do the plugs, and I had help.
