Had xpel full front and nanolex coating on my M3 before this. I definitely want to do the coating as it’s a lot easier to clean. Full front end xpel will Run 3k but it’s at one of the premier places on the east coast. Wondering how many Raptor owners do the film. Ford paint doesn’t seem to be too resilient...

Hello all,

Just to clear a few things up. The rumors of not being able to wrap edges when you use a pre-cut kit are not true, at least when using the XPEL DAP (Design Access Program) software to cut the kits. Every single kit in our database within a few clicks is able to wrap any edge you want. This means that your installer (whether beginner or seasoned veteran) is able to wrap any edge they want and still have an accurate pattern to use as a guide in their installation rather than using a blade to trim everything. That said, there will always be a little bit of trimming, but using XPEL's Pre-Cut Kits cuts down the trim time by 95%. That's a lot less blade time on your paint.

Finding a quality installer is #1. Make sure you find an installer who you're comfortable with and confident in.

In SoCal, I was quoted PPF @ $899 for partial hood and front fenders, $1699 for full hood and full front fenders, $5300 full truck. I was also quoted $1500 for paint correction and ceramic coating...

Best Price I found was $1590 for Ceramic Pro Gold but that doesn't include paint correction.

Where did you get the estimate for paint correction and ceramic coating? Was it Ceramic Pro Gold? Thanks.

Let me try to get the number. My buddy gave it to me but I trashed it. It’s in Downey. I’ll get it and get back to you... I remember the owners name is Mike...

I would rather use xpel dap patterns and have a few seams with nice straight lines than let someone bulk cut on my new car. What's the point of ppf if you remove the film and discover cut marks in your paint? It happened to me with 2 different cars and installers. Trimmimg ppf on flat surface is one thing but on complex curves and pockets it's very difficult. Hopefully your installer has ninja like blade skills.

If you are worried about seams, just make sure the edges are laid down properly and they will hardly be noticeable.

If you dont want a full hood and fenders, I would recommend a 24 in hood install. The raptor hood vent measures 24 in from hood to vent. This will give you good hood coverage from rock chips since the hood is almost flat past the vent up to winshield.

My Xpel install came out looking terrible (bubbles, huge gaps from poor trimming, dirt underneath film, etc.) When I called Xpel directly they were no help and said I had to work with my installer. Waste of $1500 and actually made my truck look worse than stock so huge regret on making the Xpel purchase. I’ll stick with coating moving forward.

As others have said, the installer quality of work and experience is suuupperrr important ... especially with paint correction. You dont want to ceramic coat over swirls.

I agree with the quality of the installer makes all the difference in the world. I' ve used Sean @ Ultimate Shield in Orange, California. He and his team have previously done three of my cars and always do an exceptional job. On the Raptor I did Xpel - full hood, full fenders, bumper, mirrors, Roof, A pillars, Fender flares, B pillars, headlamps, foglamps and door sills and rockers. Paint correction and Opticoat Pro Plus. The truck looks amazing. Check Ultimateshield on Instagram and look for the white Raptor.
