Center console bezel removal

Anyone have a guide to removing the center console bezel? I have seen a couple of pictures of it removed, and a description that says "pry up to release clips and pull back hard", however when I try this it appears it may be connected at the dash end and does not come free.

Am I just afraid to apply enough force? It seems like I am leaning on it pretty hard.

Not sure if you are referring to the upper tray or the center stack surround? Here's a diagram of the center stack surround:
