CB/Ham/GMRS Install Question

Hi Guys,

Just picked up a radio and plan on installing in the center console using the PCI trim kit combines with the BulletProof 3rd brake light antenna mount (didn't need the lighting so no need for the more expensive one) but I had a couple of quick questions on the install.

1) Where is everyone running the power wire to? Are you using some of the factor preran wires? or going through the firewall direct to the battery? I personally don't really want to waste an upfitter switch on the install.

2) How are you routing the power into the center console?

3) How are you routing the antenna from the 3rd brake light area to the center console?

I'm sure I could figure all this out on my own but thought it would be best to ask first so I don't brake or remove unnecessary trim pieces. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

CB/Ham/Race radios always work better with a clearer signal when connected directly to the battery. If you search for the Rugged Radio install in this forum you will find a good write up on the subject.

I did that using the pass through wires.

Hope that provides the sufficient juice with just 18g wires. I ran a 12g from the battery for hot and ground through the Driver side firewall hole.
