Let me caution you against 20" wheels. I made this mistake when I ordered my 2011 FX4. Thought they looked better than the base 17" wheels, which they did. Then the first time I took it off road and rubbed the shiny clearcoat off of a section of the wheel against a rock it became VERY clear to me why sidewall height is important in off road applications, keeping the damn rim above obstacles that might otherwise damage it.

What ever you choose, I hope you're happy with it.

Respectfully

The bigger the rim the less tire options you have and the tires will always be more expensive.

I did not like the Gen1 beadlocks at first and well in to my Raptor ownership but all of a sudden one day I liked the SE beadlocks and went with a set.

With the Gen2 I again don't like the look of the beadlocks, mostly the all black look, so I will most likely buy the base wheels...

Lazy Question: Could I run in soft sand with the beadlock capable wheels + beauty ring at say 18-20 PSI? Once I get the Raptor, it will be my daily driver + weekend dune runner (surf fishing vehicle) + occasional family vehicle. Not opposed installing true-beadlock but not a huge fan of spending a few hours to switch them back and forth every weekend or so. Any advantages to just running with the beauty ring vs. the standard base wheel? Sounds silly, I know, but curious of your thoughts. thanks.

Same here. I love the base wheels in dark gray, but I personally think they look bad in the machined finish as shown in the order guide. I also prefer a forged wheel, so Ford only making the base wheel in machined/bright aluminum was the kick in the ass I needed to order the beadlock wheels.

I thought the base wheels were gunmetal gray? Is that not the case?

Sadly, it looks like they'll be "machined" and black. At least 90% of the images online were of those wheels in gunmetal or black. They looked WAY better, in my opinion, than the $1200 upgrade option. Then, last second, Ford slips us a fast one. Lol

That's a kick in the ****. I've already ordered mine with the base rims, too late to change. I guess I will have to go aftermarket at some point.

It's nowhere near too late to change. For me, it's not worth the $1200 upgrade for wheels that look like **** Cepeck wheels from the mid 90s. Lol!

So, I'll rock the standard wheels for a little bit then sell them with the tires. Luckily, I saved a set of Fuel Savage wheels (20") for just such an occasion. I'll take the cash from selling the factory combo and buy 20" tires for the Fuels. Should look sweet on the Magnetic. Then again, I don't think the machined wheels will look terrible on the darker colors.
