Looking at buying my first Raptor. It's a 2014 CrewCab with just under 100k miles on it. Asking price is $29,500 for it. Already drove the truck around a bit and enjoyed it but my biggest concern with it is the CarFax report. In September of 2017 CarFax says that it ran off the road, had damage to the front and front left side of the truck and was submerged. It's categorized as minor damage on CarFax's severity scale. Since then, it has driven 50,000 miles and it was almost 8 years ago. Had a local mechanic that is also a Raptor guy take a look at the truck and he seen no rust or any concerns with the undercarriage and claimed it was nicer than his. The other flag that is being raised is the next owner bought the truck in December of 2023, drove it almost 5,000 miles in 4 months and then sold it to a dealership in March of 2024. It's been for sale at 3 different dealerships since. I think the truck runs, drives and looks clean, but the history scares me a bit. Any thoughts?7927b9da4c98485c82737a37de826709.jpg

Never heard “submerged” and “minor damage” in the same sentence, but 55,000 trouble free miles is a strong testimony. Try to bargain a little bit. Everyone has their own preferences, but if it was me I’d ask them to swap in a different bumper! Let us know what you do!

The issue is that bumper.

So if the truck has gone 50+ thousand miles with no issues since the problem that was stated on the Carfax, I believe you’re OK. Have the truck checked out drive it yourself as you said you did and make an offer and buy it. Looks clean from the picture you posted.

Thanks y’all. Don’t worry, bumper will only last as long as it would take FedEx to deliver the new one. Hopefully it will continue to last through the weekend and I’ll probably go grab it Monday morning.
