Looks like part number HL3Z7213HA is available to ship right now for $57.53 from fordparts.com. Can you confirm this is the Carbon Fiber shift knob you have pictured and no additional hardware is needed to replace the stock leather shifter?

yes, but from what im told there are not available but i could be wrong.

Was able to change out the shifter knob today. It only took 5 minutes!
1: I put the truck in Drive. Then set parking brake.
Shut truck off.
2 Pulled the boot up toward the shifter and using my left thumb nail pushed in on the clip below top ring on boot and used my right hand and pushed it down at the same time, on the left side of shifter. It slide down about a 1/8",
3 Then did the same on the right side until the boot was free from knob.
4 With the shifter in drive and stubby Phipps screw driver removed the two screws on the front of the knob, knob is is now free, then used a long slim straight screw driver to release the wiring clip. Pulled old knob off.
5 Then installed the CF knob! Checked that everything worked before pulling the boot back up over clips!
Took longer to write this up than to change it out!

I was sure hoping there was a way to do this without ripping my dash apart.

I'm going to see if I can feel the clips and do this.

Not too bad except I dropped one of the screws down there. Should have used a shorter screwdriver.

I looked around for a good while and couldn't find it. I think it's way down in there.

Luckily the new shifter came with new screws and I haven't heard it bouncing around.

Yeah, I guess they planned on us dropping a screw, mine came with two screws also. I am glad I did not have to take the consul apart! We just got back from playing on some muddy dirt roads! This truck is a blast!

is it the c/f shifter at that price?

It may be the CF shifter knob, not the complete shifter. I paid 62.13$ for mine from the dealership. Here are photos of shifter knob out of box and after install.
