Key on, engine running

Vehicle in 4H
Rear Diff Locked
Off Road Mode on

I cannot get the ADVANCETRAC icon to blink (completely turn off TC/etc) when these modes are enabled.

With the diff unlocked, I can make the icon blink by holding in the skidding car button, but it will not blink no matter how long I press it with 4H, Diff locked and offroad mode.

This really sucks because I have been driving the truck off road this entire time with the ****ing nanny controls engaged.

Can anyone help? I think this is a bug.

Thanks.

I THINK you're OK but I can't say for sure. The POS chart from Ford isn't clear on this (at least to me).

You can tell if/when the nannies are on or off - that much is very clear - when you're driving offroad. So forgetting the lousy indicators/displays, you should know if the nannies are on or off.

Here's the chart for reference - looks like we'll need it in this thread too...

xjr, don't quote me on this, but I believe it is not blinking due to the fact that you are engaging the ELD before holding the trac-control button. Try the same sequence you mentioned above except move the ELD engage to be the last thing you do. I think that will fix your "concern".

You are absolutely correct and I thank you for that.

Forgot to mention that I tried this the last trip and seemed to work.

Very strange why the icon won't blink when you try to turn Adv. Trac off AFTER the diff is locked.

I think it has to do with the ABS module getting the input that the ELD has been engaged and since there are independent wheel speed sensors, the "game" has changed for the module inputs. So I think the Trac-control would have to be disabled prior to seeing the ELD engage input. I'll see what I can find for verification.

Wow. You guys are amazing!

xjr... if it makes you feel any better my light doesn't blink under those same conditions and I'm pretty darn sure AdvanceTrac and all the other controls are OFF. I was just holding the button down for a long time. There are so many lights flashing that I thought maybe it was a timing issue and I just didn't see the skidding car blinking. I never thought it might be related to the diff lock but what FSM said makes perfect sense!

Thank you everyone. I will have to experiment some more on the next trip.

Wish everyone lived closer so we could all meet up.

What's a "nannies"?

A nanny is an in home child care provider... think Mary Poppins...

Some similar terms are au pair, caregiver, child-care worker, day-care provider, governess, mother's helper, duenna, guardian, mistress, teacher, tutoress

Or in English... person who stops you doing what you want.
