Can you add speakers to the stock Sync system?

My 2010 with sync has always been a disappointing stereo, and my music preferences don't seem to help. I hate bass, hate it. I prefer the mids, and in order to get them I seem to have to drop almost all the bass away, and max the treble.
This leaves all the sound seeming to come from the windshield area, and if I move the balance back it just gets muted and dull again.
What I was wondering is if its possible to add extra speakers to the rear, that would boost the midrange in the truck.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Read the thread, information overload for a novice like me. Also, I would prefer to not rework the whole stereo, just upgrade the speaker package if possible.
CSC what do you think, can you 'splice' in more speakers?

no. unfortunately not. adding more speakers to the existing system without an additional amp will reduce power to your new speakers and cause ohm issues, and most likely shut your system down. a speaker replacement will definitely help, however you are still limited to the oem eq.

Why would you want to add more speakers? Why not upgrade.

$... In the olden days you would pull out the pliers and make your 4 speaker setup into a kickazz 6 speaker setup. Mind you, I didn't know what I was doing then, and know even less about this new fangled stuff.
I would have liked a quick fix so as to not sink even more money into my truck.

I still don't get where you're going with this. You still need to buy new speakers so you have to spend $. And you'd need to find someplace to mount them. But to each his own.

If you want to check out someone who has done some speaker upgrades at modest cost check out ZBoater, think he did some. Not at the Noah level for sure but an improvement.
