I put a Leer on my 21. Went with the gull wing windows...huge benefit for accessing the cab and they have sliders as well for my dogs in the summer. I also like that the topper licks with the truck's doors via the key fob.

Has anyone else tried to put a older cap on a gen 3. The bed dimensions are the same as gen 2. Maybe the difference is in the thickness of the bed sides? No, a Gen 2 shell will not fit a Gen 3, at least a Snugtop will not fit it. I have a shell on my Gen 2 and hoped to transfer it to my Gen 3, but was told by Snugtop there is a 2” difference in width. August 31 I ordered another shell and was told 12-16 weeks for delivery.
my original intention was to move my Snugtop from my gen 2 to my gen 3, but the Snugtop dealer said, due to width it wouldn’t fit, so I ordered another Snugtop, which after six months still hadn’t arrived, so I put a Smart Cap on it. Today, I will find out if I solved the water leak issue. Before I take it to have PPF installed I will run it thru a car hand only wash with high pressure blowers.Has anyone else tried to put a older cap on a gen 3. Please I am really struggling on smart cap vs another leer.Smart Cap is scheduled to be installed today, afterward I will hose it down to check for leaks. If anyone is interested I will post pics and details?
I placed burly tape inside the air vent on top of the cap and it worked beautifully! Afterward I took it thru a car wash and it is watertight! I think it looks much better than the Snugtop I have on my 2019, the cost is about the same…$5k. I am actually thinking of selling the snugtop and replacing it with another Smart Cap.Please I am really struggling on smart cap vs another leer.
Sorry, yes Gen 3 is wider! The Snugtop I ordered cost a bit over 4K, but I got the large windows, rack rails and increased load capacity. Without those options, I think it was about 3k.
