Well I finally got to talk to the real mechanic - he told me the reprogramming simply ups the oil pressure to avoid the issue but if you already have the noise your toast and you need the redesigned cam phaser not all of the other parts the service tech told me. He installed it and is working great so far

I assume everyone is going through same process. Took truck in for recall - did the program did not fix it - when I picked the truck up it was running - drove it home - started it up later in day same rattle. Called the dealership and I quote “Yeah we heard that but we needed your permission to go to next level”. I said you never called me and just let me leave the dealership. Now it is back at shop and I called yesterday and they told me waiting on parts 2 weeks including new cam shaft and sprockets. Mine is under the 60k mile mark so all on Fords dime -

Am I the only one with poor service on this recall or are others experiencing the same?
Yes I experienced the same thing over the past 2 months. I called today and asked what’s next and the dealer told me that a lot of the dealerships are in a "backlog" status here in Texas. I’m looking at a turnaround time between 2-4 months being fully repaired. I’m still in shock because I can’t do without my ride for 4 months! This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I am there with you and sharing in your frustration. This Raptor is not some lemon car you buy for $5000 somewhere Where something like this is more expected. It’s a $70k Raptor for Pete’s sake!

Brother my service department is an abortion. Took my Gen 2 for 4 TSB’s today. I’m at 52k miles. 3 of the 4 are covered under 60k powertrain and 1 is under safety and restraint warranty. Despite HANDING them the printouts of all the TSB’s and SSM’s they gave 0 fks and insisted that I would have to use my extended warranty third party coverage which of course pays the stealership more than factory warranty work. Finally the service manager conceded that I was right but then told me that it would be two weeks till they could even touch my truck and the only way that would even happen is if I leave it there to sit for two weeks “in line”. GTFOH. I had my cam phasers replaced already. Still rattles. I hand her a letter from Ford which reads customers can still have the 21B10 program until 07/31/22 and they tell me “we don’t even have that in our system”. So I left and now need to arrange a rental on my own dime for two weeks while my truck sits there untouched. Monkeys fking coconuts. Total circus

You don’t need to leave the truck at the shop for the cam phaser repair. The problem is well known and understood. The cam phaser failure to park issue will not damage the motor. Responsible service departments have been ordering parts and notifying customers when the parts come in.

pick up the truck and tell them to notify you when the parts come in AND the parts are for YOUR truck and NOBODY ELSE’s. (emphasis mine

Responsible service departments are unicorns. Mine told me today that the only way they will address the 4 TSB’s/SSM’s is if I leave my truck there for two weeks to sit “in line” as they won’t get to it until at least then and added, “no we can’t call you when we are ready for your truck to come in”. Second dealer nearby told me they are only doing the tailgate TSB and any other concerns won’t be addressed till late September. I called Ford. They told me to try another dealer. Fanfkintastic

My truck just came back from phaser service.

Round 1: waited 3 weeks for next available appointment. Process described as they open it up then order parts, which arrive next day. Total job 3 days, so I made arrangements for truck to be there full week.

Friday of that week, after speaking to them several times during week, they admit they havent even opened it up, waiting for parts to arrive monday. Had a road trip planned for following Wed so I repo'd the truck saturday morning after setting another appointment for a week I'd be away. Pointed discussion with service advisor also occurred at that time.

Round 2: Drop it off, parts already delivered. Ready by end of day friday. Performed door freezing TSB and a couple others I can't recall now, plus replaced all the skidplate bolts on their dime.

Got a couple thousand miles on it since then and silent at start up, runs great after relearn process.

I actively fought the 'leave truck waiting in line' argument. When it sat for a week, leaving me without a vehicle, I reamed the service manager about how absurd that request is. Why that game is played I'll never understand.
