My driver's side valve cover has a hairline crack in exactly the same spot. I had mentioned to replace it to service writer. Hopefully they do. If not, I'm going to replace it myself. They gave me an Escape too. I actually didn’t mind putting around in that for a week. Nice to drive something small in lieu of the truck and a Navigator L, but it was also nice to give it back…
Only other item I mentioned in my previous post is the valve covers. Yours might be okay, but my driver side was leaking where no oil should be leaking from and there was a hairline crack that seems to be a fairly common issue. Similar to all the other parts you mentioned, they already had it apart so I figured just throw new ones on. Mine was leaking towards the top of the valve cover above the oil filler tube. At first they said it was spillage from filling the oil. But unless the oil defied gravity, not to mention spilled up and under the engine cover, it was a leak…
Mine has the same tiny hairline crack on drivers side. I'm going to try some epoxy this weekend, then maybe call Ford about fixing it under warranty if they have the valve cover in stock? I'm tired of smelling burning oil when the puddle gets big enough to drip on something hot.My driver's side valve cover has a hairline crack in exactly the same spot.
