Does the third party warranty specify that you need to use a Ford dealership? If not then you could always go to a shop that specializes in Raptors. Regardless get it fixed, you bought the warranty for a reason.
No, they said I can choose to get it fixed at any ASE certified shop I would like. There are a few shops here in AZ that specialize in Raptor suspension, but I am not aware of any that do engine repairs.

Just take it in and have the dealer take care of it since you have the warranty.

Nobody wants to have their truck’s engine torn apart, however, as others have said, dealerships at this point and time should be well versed in the cam phaser job. Not only that, but I’m sure dealerships have specific mechanics that can do engine work. At least the one I go to does and they did a fantastic job TWICE 3-4 years apart.

What dealer did you go to, if you don't mind me asking? I'd be willing to take it to SoCal if they are solid.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. 78k mile 2017 with original phasers that rattle for a second only on cold/semi cold starts, but I don't have a warranty. I'm just going to enjoy and drive it until it starts making more severe noises or rattles even on idle. But you paid for a warranty which changes everything so if I were you, make use of it so it's not constantly in the back of your mind.

Does yours have a light knock at fully warmed up idle too?

I have no idea how I missed it on the test drive

No issue on test drive, two days later,

200.gif

because the symptom at first only manifests on a cold start; that is to say, at least 8 hours since the last start up, fully cooled and oil allowed to drain down. If the sales bot, porter or other dealer staff got the truck for you, there’s no way you’d have heard it. Smart sales bots will have the truck started once they know or think you’re coming, so you won’t hear it.

as for the knock, we’d need to hear it up close and personal. Injectors on the 3.5TT EB are pretty loud.

The proper procedures for the fix along with part numbers have been discussed on here more than a few times. Gather your info and when you meet with your service advisor, ask for a breakdown of what they plan to do. If it matches up with what has worked for people on here, then you should feel pretty comfortable.
