The filter is open to fresh air at the front, I will take a better picture to show that opening.
I had the AFE which I was not happy with its fit and finish, this one is like day and night comparison in quality. The filter is made out of Nanofiber which is a Donaldson material and supposedly the best for filtering small particles.
Yes I did notice throttle response and the sound from the muffler is louder, the sound from the intake is kind of like a whooshing sound. I have not driven it enough to tell if it has any affect on MPG's.
I have a hydro-shield pre filter so you cant really see the blue filter.

hmm..first I've seen on this intake system. Be interested to hear your thoughts on it after a few more miles are on it. I wonder how it compares to airraid or other popular intakes in power

Personally I think its the best one on the market for the Raptor in terms of quality and fit, JMO. Power wise it is tuned to work with the stock tune.

That filter looks very nice. You say it designed for stock tune? So would a tuned truck run the same with stock intake or would a tuned truck with this intake run better?

Injen put the Raptor on a dyno during the development of their CAI so the CAI itself could be tuned, in order for it to work well with the stock tune while increasing HP. Not sure how well it would work with a custom tune.

Nice find.

I emailed them about filter size but haven't received a response. Curious about replacing it with a Donaldson
