Building my own "retrofit" headlight

Howdy,

I bought the Spyder headlights for my 2012 with the giant white LED tube a couple years ago .

I got sick of how thick the tube was, and refuse to oap raptor retrofit prices. Here is where this little project stands .

The pictures are just of the mockups .I originally painted with plasticdip to test the width of the "line" and decided it was too thick . Now I will tape with 1/4 inch tape and spray with a matte black .

The brains of this will be an ESP32 which will run a webserver and control the WS2812b(neopixels) from my phone.

I'm stepping down 12v to 5v which will be wired to the original LED strips so that they turn on just like they did before .

Since everything is Arduino, I can create the same animations (and better...think Knight Rider) . I hope to have this done this week.

Nice. Those lights are a killer deal if you are willing to crack em open and modify them. The 1" wide bar is fugly as they are delivered. The thinner version in your pics is just right. You going with some better projectors and a HID kit I assume?

Got them all working. Webserver controls it from your phone and I have countless animations

Curious too. Haven't looked, but I assume there is a Youtube video on how to separate the lenses? There are Yotube videos foe jsut about anything.

Pretty straight forward. Bake em for like 10mins at 150 that's what I've used on the headlights I've busted apart.

I can add some detail on my process today. Regarding products I can link to everything and the code I wrote for this will be on GitHub with instructions.

This is all really easy to do, the worst part is really taking headlights apart .
