GEN 2 Broken pano roof

Damn, pics of the tarp/wrap covering it. Others have phoned in and made sure the dealer had the parts ordered and in stock, so they only had to leave it for the day. Good luck.

Thought about as I was leaving for work this morning, but it was too dark. Didn't drive today as I carpool most days, and it's not my week to drive. It looks like someone just put sticky saran wrap over the top of it.

I was disappointed with how they put the wrap on. Two porters came out, both of them around 5'6" and couldn't reach over the top of the truck. They took a look at me, I'm 6'3", and asked for me to help. Once it was on, I didn't even make it around the block before it started coming off. I thought they knew what they were doing. I came back around and put another layer on, this time, covering 3-4 inches over the windshield to keep it on. Still, don't feel good going over 60 mph with that thing on.

Oh, and a I have a couple recalls that need to be done, so if they don't have the parts in, I'll just get the recall done and take it back later. Although now that I know it's call the TSB, and that's likely the issue, perhaps I don't want them opening it up if they don't have TSB in stock.

Did you inquire whether they’d be willing to disassemble it to at least get it closed while you wait in parts? Not saying they wouldn’t charge for their time, but it would be better than driving around with plastic wrap.

No. I actually was thinking this would qualify as an emergency situation to jump the line and get it that day, Monday. I actually had the day off too, so was just fine for me. Since the person I spoke to came back quickly with the wrap, and didn't offer another solution, I assumed this was option.

I don't need to drive anywhere today or tomorrow, but will need a vehicle Thursday or Friday morning. The truck is ok for short range with the wrap on, but not for the trip to work. So depending on the weather, I'll either take off the wrap and take it to work, or I'll switch Trucks with my son, since he's just got school/work. He is a teenager though, so switching is not my first choice.

My previous stealership, Ourisman in Alexandria, VA did not perform moonroof repairs, they contracted out to a local Kia stealership. It was a PITA to coordinate, required several days of downtime per visit and rather than troubleshoot post repair rattle, they ordered up a whole new frame replacement.

I will say, they did throw in the krytox lube for the rubber seals free of charge though during routine maintenance.

Tracks only I would think should be cheaper but I’m not sure.

So they screwed you over, but at least they provided lube?

That's one of the reasons I didn't try and find a different dealership to do the work. This dealerships has a massive service center that looks very well run from what I've seen. I have no doubt they will do the work in house. The other dealership nearby I've seen is great for buying vehicles, but does not look ideal for service/repair.

Frame is clearly the most expensive. Glass second. A couple other parts are pretty expensive, but I have a feeling I either need one of the cheaper hardware parts or parts that are not listed by Tasca.

Yeah, the stealership at least provided free lube

Mine was warranty covered, just took 3 visits to actually get the work done and correct. I asked what it would cost me out of warranty as a curiosity. Go with your gut on the service dept. @FordTechOne has often said, this is where the rubber meets the road so to speak.

Out the door I paid 487.00. That included both rails and the shield being replaced. Autonation Ford Jacksonville. I showed them the TSB and out of Warranty.

Any idea after this is repaired will it last any longer? Mine isn’t working but haven’t decided if/when I’ll get fixed. No warranty
