So, for my truck who is routinely on the highway at 80-90mph for long stretches of road and parking lot mania -- what charachteristics does the sway-bar hold?

At 80-90 mph the bar will save you fron a rollover if you need to make a evasive maneuver... But, let me say also, if you are a good driver and know how to avoid something without a panic its ok to do, but, not very many people know threshold driving or braking...
Had to edit this... Shouldnt say it will save you, that is misleading but, it will help you control the vehicle better...

Parking lot mania is when no sway bar is really cool! Work that suspension like it was meant to and get into on the turns. Trust me, it turns into a different truck with some cool body roll.

Freeway driving I think is when you will notice it and maybe feel more comfortable with the sway bar. I don't know though because once you get used to it, it aint no thang. Here in CA, the freeways suck and i remember that before I got use to the swaybar being off is when I felt it get a little squirrely but this was only when I was getting used to it. Now, I can't tell a difference.

Give it a shot... 10 minutes to take the thing off. You can always get it back on. If something bad happens, don't come knocking on my Body Shop door! :)

Took my sway bar off as well and perfectly happy with it. If your truck stays on the street, I'd leave it in but like Hockster said, it wouldn't be detrimental if you did take it off. Where you notice it being gone, as per it's purpose, is in turns....there's a bit more body roll but not alot. Straight line, no difference. It's not going to make any difference as to what perch your running as the sway bar is only for turning/side to side movement....the perch mod will make a difference in ride quality all around, especially decreasing nose dive on braking.

WIth "more body roll" does that kick in the nanny controlls sooner ? I stepped on mine on a quick left onto the interstate and nanny controlls shut it down. Not sure if it was the tires breaking loose or the body roll (still has sway bar on) but it cut out on me. Yea I know turn trac off, but every time you start it ? I wish there was an on/off switch for that. How about it ?

It would have been the tires and the yaw sensors since you were turning. The body roll is far from anything dramatic. It really isn't that noticeable. On bumpy roads is when you will love it. On bumps you won't get that side to side motion the sway bar causes. Your suspension can actually work independently so it will be much smoother for daily driving.

I've been through a few driving schools and know all about the threshold braking and driving manuevers and not steering with your shoulders and all that crap. I use it damn near everyday with the retards down here.:Jedi:

I might have to try yanking it off for a month or so and seeing what the big deal is. Take it to the dealer and tell them it drives "funny" and see if they can find it, lol.

If it weren't for the extra pay loads I put on my truck I would disconnect mine. I had the bar perminantly disconnected on my last 4runner but have quick disconnects on my current one. The body roll was fun and after learning to trust it, I got really good at scaring people on off ramps. Should be pretty easy to make. If some of you are interested ill try and see if there is a writeup about it. That way if you have a big road trip all it takes is 5min and your good.

This is only held on with two bolts. If people just want to give this a try. Park your truck on FLAT ground and remove just one of these metal bars. I do that so if I tow or have to go to the dealership, I can put it back on in less than 2 mins.
Its really quick to do.

I'd strongly recommend removing both sway connect bars.
