FWIW, I've heard many methods of break-in. I've built several engines myself and have experimented with break-in procedure each time. The best engine builders I've known have all advised me to break them in by either letting the engine pull, (like going uphill) but not extremely hard, or decelerate. (downhill, holding back) Each warned me not to do a lot of highway driving at one steady speed. At steady RPMs the 4 piston rings that have their ring gap set 180 degrees apart can vibrate, rotating around, lining up and causing a permanent loss in compression.

As far as running the poo out of it on day one. Yeah, many years ago I was given that misguided advice and pulled that stunt... Ended up trading it back in the day I bought it. I lost my butt on the trade-in as I refused to have a brand new car that had a replacement engine. Not that it actually matters, but it was a Chevrolet.
Regardless of how well some on this site may say it works for them, I'm not waiting on a replacement engine in this BS supply chain world we live in . No thank you...
