I don't have my Gen 3 yet but should be a few weeks. Instead of a 10mm could you just remove them and add rivet instead?
Not on the GEN1. It's blind to the rear, so big (really big!) rivets wouldn't work. The 10mm screw/bolt/thing is really unusual. I've never seen anything like it before.

Just put some blue Loctite on them, they will be extremely difficult to remove. Or, if you want to make them impossible to remove without a torch, use red Loctite.

Hood security device prevents unlatching the hood with a long-handled device, and prevents defeat of the hood latch mechanism by reaching through the grill with a long 10mm nut driver. Made with scrap steel that I had hanging around. I treated the steel with phosphoric acid, then primered, then painted. Yankee ingenuity!

RECOMMENDATION: At the very least, buy both 3/8" and 1/2" plastic wire protectors. You know the stuff - it's split lengthwise and looks like a black worm. The 3/8" fits perfectly inside the 1/2", and it's often sold that way. Cover the horn wires with the 3/8" and then cover the 3/8" and the horn plug with the 1/2", and zip tie them in place. Anything you can do to frustrate a thief and inspire him to move to the next vehicle is worthwhile.

Looks like it was forged in the depths of Isengard.

Looks good and sorry about the LOTR nerdiness.

The depths of Isengard? Naaa. Orks can't do Yankee ingenuity!!!
(Besides, orks are sooo stoopid that they can't spell SVT!)
All I have is a gas welder, a bench vise, and hand tools.
Thanks for the nice compliments, you guys.:)
