Not a word, and nothing on their website either...

I emailed Chris at Freedom Wednesday with no reply still...and I just emailed him again as well as that witchy email he listed and that got rejected...

When I posted about private messaging Witchy, that was almost a year ago and she is no longer working for Freedom. That was her username on the forum when she worked with us and her forum username has changed back to just Witchy. She also no longer has an email address for the company.

That being said, I did receive your email, but didn't get a chance to reply as yet. However, to also qualify that, I answered your questions about the R1Concepts package in November of 2014 with a complete pricing quote during a 20% off sale and you weren't ready to purchase at that time. Your only question in your current email was whether the pricing had gotten any better, which it hasn't. I HAVE been running a 15% off sale most of May, but the 20% off sales are few and far between.

THAT being said, I do want to apologize again, like I did in my reply to your email about the delay. This week has been absolutely crazy busy, on top of all day trips to the VA hospital for Dr appointments and making preparations for a graduation party tomorrow for my oldest son who is graduating high school tomorrow. Anyone with urgent questions can either send a private message on the forum to @Rookie or email him at [email protected] or call me directly at 276-728-2569 (my LAN line) or call or text my cell at 276-233-0097 (also listed in my email signature) and if I can't answer I will return your inquiry as soon as possible.

As an honest question, has anyone actually needed more brake or had the OEM ones fade?

I spent a whole day doing 20-30 minute sessions around a road course with my recovery gear and 5 guys in my truck and they didn't fade. They sure smelled bad, but, there was never a noticeable loss in pedal feel.

Around the same track, the Evo I had would be able to cook the (better) brakes in 3-4 laps, but, was obviously significantly faster coming into corners.

You going too slow :ROFLJest:

On a 6 mile twisty undeveloped road I frequent, the brakes are faded badly by mile 4, and pretty much on fire by mile 6.
Ebc yellows were an improvement over stock, but not hugely.
Carbotechs are much better, they just wear quickly when used in anger frequently.

To add to this^^^, if you want to run EBC, they have a new Extra Duty pad that is actually Orange That @MUTH3 is running that is much better for really aggressive offroading. EBC has said that they are better for our trucks in those conditions than the EBC Red or Yellow stuff pads either one.

I thought I was the only one on here that knew about and used Carbotech pads. I've used them on several Vettes and Camaros in the past. I currently have the street compound pads and they are better than stock and the yellow EBC's. I originally had the autox compound, AX6 I think. Holy shit did those pads stop the truck! The hotter they got the better, great initial bite and no fade. The negative side to those is they chewed through the stock rotors and the pads were also toast after less than 20k miles. The brakes dust was pretty bad too.

Yeah, ran the carbotechs on my camaro too.
I like the auto cross compound.

Going down the Long Cayon Road in Moab I was on the brakes a lot more than I realized. Got to the bottom and stopped to take pictures. Strong hot brake smell but I never noticed any fade.

So while I'm looking at R1 Concepts for replacement rotor/pads I have to say the stock rotor/pads have not been bad. 34k on them now and I'm at 5/32 (front) and 4/32 (rear) according to the dealer. My front rotors do feel like they are warped a little which is why I'm now looking at new brakes.

I hear the EBC yellow produce a lot of brake dust. I deal enough with the damn brake dust with my wife's and my Audi. I'd prefer something close to stock. Don't know how the R1 are brake dust wise. I have yet to find any posts talking about it (If there are any and I just started to look today).

Brake rotors and pads are important, I had a ton of brake fade recently. I took the truck into a mechanic that trades out work with us. He ordered Hawk pads and Baer rotors. His major concern was my brake fluid. He said that is was boiled and had a ton of air in. NUKED was what he said. So on top of the pads and rotors a DOT4 brake fluid flush is needed he said. I don't have the truck back yet. So I have no report there, as stated before not many comment on brakes. We talk about the power steering getting hot but this makes me see the fact we do heat up the brake fluid and should pay more attention to that.
