I installed the S type Borla with x pipe on my 2019 Raptor. It sounds hollow and raspy. Sounds horrible in my opinion. I watch YouTube videos of same year of truck and same set up of S type exhaust system. In the videos I hear the turbo whistle and sounds deeper on cold starts. My truck sounds nothing like the videos! I had a 2012 Ecoboost on my f150 with the corsa db and res delete and loved it. Deep sound and turbo whistle on cold starts and W.O.T. I bought the Borla system from what I heard prior from the youtube videos, sounded great like my older 2012. Anybody know why this is or has the same unexpected sound? I was told that the Borla resonator will help. I've heard contradicting info though. I'm told it will get rid of the rasp, quiet it down and be deeper sounding. I've also been told it will make it louder, deeper and no rasp. Anybody have or had this same situation? What should I expect with the Borla resonator or just get the corsa xtreme res delete. Will the Corsa xtreme be louder? My 2012 corsa was perfect sound and pitch but that was 8 yrs ago.. Neighbors don't like me already. Thanks for input!

Removing the resonator makes it super raspy no matter the brand. The Corsa extreme is ridiculously loud and rasp city I don't think that's what you're going for.

I would go with the Borla or stock resonator if you want no rasp.

Dealer installed the Borla with x-pipe on my truck as a dealer add on. I got it home listed for a few days. It was too loud with no bass. I gave up on it and installed the resonator in place of the x-pipe. it quieted down a bit and sounded better. it's still not throaty by any stretch but it's tolerable now.

There is also the s type borla and the borla attack. What you see in most videos may be the attack. Also the resonator while it will tone down the rsspyness and the drone it will essentially sound like the factory exhaust. Ask me how I know hahha. In all seriousness if you need a borla resonator I have one I can sell but to be upfront it does tone down the wot sound

I had the Borla Atak with X-Pipe and it sounded raspy and was way too loud. Even at normal acceleration it sounded like I was trying to race off the line. I bit the bullet and bought the resonator and it calmed it down very nicely. I am happy with the set up now. It sucks to have to toss more money at it, but I'd suggest trying the borla resonator before scrapping the whole exhaust and starting over. I wish Borla would give the option to order their exhaust with the X-pipe or the resonator initially.

I have the S-type as well and do not like it. Def raspy, drones on the highways and mine on cold start roars to life like a jetliner passing overhead. That said, I did research looking for the right sound (from vids of-course). I have been thinking about throwing my res back on or biting the bullet and buying the Borla res.
Pretty disappointed at this point.

In the same boat as you Pat. I just picked up the Borla S (luckily used) and I have a love hate relationship with it. I'm about to crawl under the truck and throw on the stock resonator to see if I like it better.

When I did my 2018 Raptor a few months back, I had the opportunity to A/B a few different exhausts at the same time. The shop wanted to hear the difference and so did I. We A/B’d Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow and a few others. The deepest and heartiest sound, by a fair margin was the Magnaflow. The Borla was the raspiest by far. We did the final install with a resonator delete, just the cross flow Magnaflow muffler and straight pipes. I replaced the air filter with a K&N Raptor setup. Sounds great. Feels like it runs a hair quicker.
