What muffler should we buy to mimic the S-Type exhaust? I do not want the entire cat-back, would prefer to dump the exhaust instead.

Earlier we were talking about the Touring which is different than the S-type.

Additionally, the S-type uses a Dual IN, Dual OUT muffler with a Y-pipe inlet and dual tailpipes. If you are trying to achieve a similar sound with a turn down, there are too many factors for you to successfully replicate the sound of a factory tuned Borla cat-back system and that's the honest answer. Dual IN, Dual OUT will produce a different sound and tailpipe length has a lot to do with how tuned or raspy the exhaust note will sound.

If you want a muffler that is most similar to the Borla S-type for the application you're trying to achieve, a Single IN, Single OUT 2.5""/2.5" Borla ProXS will be most appropriate. This will be very aggressive due to the small case size of the muffler.

For an even more aggressive sound , we have 3"/3" XR1 options. Within the XR1 line there are round mufflers, oval mufflers, small, big medium...Each will produce a different sound.

For a turn down I would recommend one of their medium sized options:

*Sound is subjective. I am using size/configuration data from the S-type to compile recommendations only.

You stated I couldn't buy the touring muffler, after giving me the part number, so I wrongly assumed that maybe you guys sold something similar to the s type.

Sound is subjective but I really enjoy the borla touring setups and would like to replicate that deep rumble sound.

You didn't wrongly assume. The Borla XS mufflers are most similar to what they use in their S type cat-back kit. I wanted to make certain you would understand with a turn down that it would be difficult to replicate the S-type cat-back sound due to the tailpipe length and IN/OUT configuration. Custom applications are very hard to dial in the sound, but we have experience with the muffler applications to help you make an informed decision.

Instead of getting a turndown, I would recommend running the pipes up and over the rear axle and then just dumping about 5-6" after you make the turn back down over the axle. You will have to utilize the furthest back exhaust hanger but you also move the sound out past the cab into the bed of the truck. You'll get a lot less drone by moving it further out than having it dump right after the muffler.
