I wouldn't use black wax on a truck, it's gonna hide the metallic in the paintbecause your essential putting a layer of dye on top of your paint. It'll look black, but it won't look like tuxedo black.

I should have said it that way first post, that is my concern, will it darken / cover the metallic? I will get the meguires and test it on the tailgate.

I know Adams is now a supporting vendor and has great reviews but I researched for months and lots of conversation over at autogeek on waxes for offroad. Vast Majority of professional detailers recommended Duragloss with Collinite on top. Synthetic first then carnauba on top. U can get Duragloss at Napa or the shamrock parts store starts with an O but I can't remember the name. It is cheap for both parts and awesome...about $12 for both bottles. Literally lasts a year if u use auto shampoo for washes in between. goes on and u don't even hardly see it and not ur old carnauba wax. It is a synthetic wax and doesn't stain. For me it is the best. I mix their 105 product with the 601 cure agent so that ur cure time between second coat (if desired) is shorter. 45 mins vice 16 hours. If u are looking for an all in one wax similar to Klausss then try Duragloss 501 mixed with the 601 cure agent. Has a nice gentle cleaner in it. Haven't used it on my truck but did momma's 6 year old fusion and it came out great. Paint was smooth as a baby rabbits belly.

Collinite 918 marquis de excelence is best carnauba wax but it takes some skill to work with. It is rock hard with great shine but if you don't put it on super thin and do small areas a little at a time it takes a miracle to get it off. You have to know what you are doing with it.

Just re-did my Duragloss last weekend (after one year) and got shit bombed by a bird 2 days ago and the poop couldn't even attach to car. It was weird and awesome. I didn't have time to put Collinite carnauba topper on it yet but even without it the black tux metallic looks sick!

I don't sell it or have any affiliation with it other than a very happy user.

To me, the black wax is not bad as a specialty wax and applying a glaze or sealer will give the black paint a deep shine.

Color-specific waxes are more of a clever marketing ploy than anything.

Sure, they will look nice when they are applied, but once the dyes wash away (which is likely fairly quickly) you'll be back to square one.

The kicker is you are only actually applying these products to your clear coat, not the base coat underneath. These products have no idea what color of paint they are being layered over...black/white/yellow/blue/pink/camo/chrome/rainbow, etc.

You'll be better off going with a product that will look great on ANY color in my opinion.

;)

Dr. ColorChip is a good product, but if there are a lot of them, a respray is really the only viable option unfortunately.
