Im definitely a newb to offroading. Spent a good amount of time in the woods and camp quite a bit but its always backpacking on foot.

Are there any good online resources to seek out new trails, BLM trails, fire trails, etc? Moved to Colorado about 4 months ago. Want to take full advantage of the outdoors here. I'd really like to figure out some good trails to get take the lady out on so we can camp overnight. Not really sure how to start to be honest

Any help is very much appreciated.

OnX off-road is great but you also have COTREX which is a Colorado specific off-road trail navigation app. Not sure if it’s state sponsored but it’s a really good resource.
Also, I like to cross reference between the apps when researching trails. I use Gaia, OnX, regular google/YouTube, and COTREX.

Dont forget to download the maps prior to going out for the area you will be in. This allows you to navigate when there’s no cell service, your phones/tablet gps will work without cell service but the maps won’t load.

Gaia was recommended by one of the instructors at Raptor Assault and I used it to plot my course from Bonneville to Twinfalls. It did great! I was very concerned I might get out in the middle of nowhere and hit a dead end but Gaia came through. It's one thing just doing an out and about ....quite another plotting cross country through unknow areas.

Can you share your route? I live near Twin Falls and was looking at making an out and back trip to Bonneville (Wendover) when the weather warms. Another benefit to Gaia...

Look into clubs, too. Some locals and old timers will show you some great "secret" honey holes...

Plot a course to the Sun Tunnels and you’ll be 3/4 of the way to Wendover or do the Transcontinental Railroad National Back Country Byway. That will get you almost to Lucin, then you just take the dirt road headed south to Bonnivelle Salt Flats
