GEN 2 Best way to Clean sunroof track and seal

Hey guys just got back from a sandy up north trip. Sun roof is still quiet but I hear sand and dirt and I know it’s in there when I use it to get some sun in. Anything you guys do or use to clean it up and get it perfectly smooth again? This is just some preventative maintenance so it doesn’t get noisy or all cruddes up.

Any products or techniques would be helpful or things to look for / focus on

There is a clear silicone grease you can get for convertibles. I use it on mine every now and then. Cleans the seal well and keeps it fresh so it seals up tight. Will also reduce any squeaks that might develop over time as well.

Ah okay, I tried white lithium grease ? Seemed to have done just alright it didn’t quiet it down much if at all. I’ve gotta somehow try and get deep in the track and clean it.

Ah man...you’ll need to get all of the sand out...maybe someone has knowledge as to how to go about this? Maybe blow it out with air, maybe reach with a rag on the end of a stick or wire? Hope you don’t need to take it apart...

Wonder if blowing the sand off the pano roof with air or water after a sand run would prevent this?

Shop vac the sand.

Clean with a rag and quick detailer.

I used dielectric grease to lightly lube the seal.

A sun roof on a Raptor, hmmm when you go upside down at 70 mph the sand in the seal will be the least of your worries. You will still be able to use the shopvac to clean out the rocks and glass though.

good to know it can still be cleaned out after a flip. I will flip mine next weekend and report back. my previous 2013 I flipped I just grabbed some tape and dabbed it in the tracks to remove the glass and dirt/sand. Fairly common occurrence on raptors.

Almost didn’t get the sunroof but never had one before! I don’t off road a ton but maybe if I begin to I won’t get it on the next one! Didn’t realize true off-roaders don’t really get them for various reasons !

Ask the dealer what type of grease for the tracks or do some more research online- use whatever they recommend. For the weatherseal/gasket surrounding the perimeter of the panel use “krytox” lube you can buy from dealer it’s pricey but you only need a little & it’s Specifically for it. I would use rags/pipe cleaner & wooden dowels wrapped w/ rags in hard to reach spots to initially clean the heavy stuff forget about the lube that’s there you’ll wind up removing a lot of it that’s why I say find out what’s on there from the factory for the tracks it’s like a white grease.

I would probably use 3M silicone paste too on it but first choice would be factory lubes
