GEN 2 Best tow Tune

I’m a commercial fishing guide. I tow an airboat everyday aprox 4500lbs. Sometimes a few miles sometimes 500 miles. Either way boat is behind my truck everyday.

That being said I also unhook and go about normal non towing driving.

I have an nguage now with a high Hp tune from gear head i think. “Bought truck used”

Truck also has 37” tires, stg 2 intercooler, spd turbo adapters.


I really don’t like the idea of having to load tunes every time I decide to change from boat to no boat.

What’s the highest safe tow hp if I drive sensibly while towing. Usually no steep grades etc

Is there a happy medium? Am I missing something here?

MPT has a tow tune I have not used mine yet but will be towing my race car a couple states over next weekend for some roll racing and hope it tows well.

All honesty. 5star has the best towing tunes. But then again this is a forum and everyone has different opinions.

I am cobb stage 2 with the FMIC and put my tune to stage 0 every weekend when I tow my travel trailer. I can overheat on coolant temps pulling the mountains by my house even with the tune turned down if I romp on it going up the mountains. A FMIC might obstruct enough air flow through the radiator that it can't reject enough heat to keep up and a tune would only pour salt in the wound.

I’ve used their perf/tow on my 14 raptor, 14 F-150 ecoboost, and now my 18 raptor. 5star actually take their time and tow a trailer behind them getting shift points right while keeping the truck in it’s power band. Just check out their website or even give them a call. They keep all of fords safeties in place while even changing the fans to come on earlier. I believe they are definitely the king of tow tunes for the ecoboost platform. Josh definitely knows what he is doin and will not disappoint. My 18 tows my boat and enclosed without a sweat. I’ve actually been trying out an adaptive tune Josh made for me and it is perfect for me in Cali.

I’ve used gearhead and mpt. Gearhead is not bad and is a good all around tune. But when towing 5stars shifts were on point and I felt I had plenty of power without running too hot.
