RPG had to swap out a frame. Remember, it requires removing everything from the the truck and reassembling it. If it were my truck I would force the issue and have them total it. Things are going to rattle and be loose. Something is going to get overlooked.

It's just hard to total a $45kish (market value) truck for a frame swap.

I know a thing or two about the body shop biz and frame replacements aren't uncommon. Especially on higher value vehicles.

I know this isn't the popular response but just my opinion regarding the reality of the situation.

I would agree with you tizz if it was the rear or middle section of the frame, but since it's the front section that has bent and I imagine there could be damage to the engine, wiring, any of the control modules that are up front, transmission, or front differential, as well as suspension components, I think flatlander would be better off trying to force them to total it than get it repaired and end up having to repeatedly bring it in for future repairs caused by this damage, I really don't like that this will be one more molten orange that will be taken off the road, and kinda want to push him to get it repaired, but the risk/reward in this instance is a little too great in my opinion

Thank you guys for the input. Stuff in the truck already rattles! I know deep down it'll never be the same. I will speak with the adjuster and body shop tomorrow morning. I'll let you guys know what happens. I think I'll push hard for a total. Here are some picks of the damage. Which do not show the full extent of the damage. Check out the gap between door and fender

Oh, I agree that it would be ideal to total this out for Flatlanders sake, no doubt.

I just know wat kind of resistance he's gonna be up against from the insurance adjuster. They can be ruthless.

Good luck to you buddy and we're hoping for the best outcome. Keep us posted.

Any suggestions for negotiating to total out with the adjuster? I do do remember him saying when the accident happened that if the truck damage approache 50% he would consider a total loss on a truck like this. Hopefully he remembers that

push for loss of value if it gets iffy. the body shop wants the work and the insurance wants to save money for bonuses so you have to work for it. good luck... it will always be a marginal truck and trying to sell it will double the pain. all the best
