Anyone experienced this? Had to use the factory scissor jack and handle on the side of the highway last weekend and twisted the metal handle like a Twizzler.

Thank god i've never had to use that cheesy thing. You know you can drive in the ditch cross-ways and lift that tire in the air without a jack :)

Actually had to use it on my boat trailer which is lighter than the truck. I had a bottle jack for the boat, but it didn’t have enough lift to switch the tire out. So grabbed the scissor jack and was not impressed.

First time I had to use mine was when towing my father in-law's old airstream and the damn thing locked up and wouldn't turn b/c the threads were messed up. I mean it's got one frickin job to do and it can't lift a 1,500lb trailer, exchanged it for a new one at the dealer and TESTED it before packing it back away behind the seat.

I broke the handle off mine in torsion. I was high centered on a boulder that my tire slid off of. I tried to lift to pack some rocks under there and the freaking connection to the jack broke!

My theory is that they designed it such that the handle would break prior to the actual jack breaking and dropping the load. It’s kind of a mechanical fuse.

Luckily someone else on the trail had a high lift and tire adapter or I’d still be there. Definitely don’t rely on the stock jack.
