Anyway, these tensioners could be used in conjunction with the rope and BigJ Loops. And if you took the oval shaped steel connectors MMD referenced and placed them over the two ears on the bed hooks you have a handy spot to clip carbiners to. I do this on my XLT and it works great. Lastly, these things are great if you have never used them (and even if you have <G>);

Falcon, I'll send you a PM on the picture issues (so we don't derail this good discussion).

I came across another rail system similar to the other one I posted. This one is made by the same company that makes Hi-Lift jacks. They call their version Slide-n-Lock.

I have not come across a retailer yet to compare the price to the previous post.

http://tinyurl.com/ycco6hv has them in 93 inch pairs for $133.95

Looks like a good product but my bed rails are in use (Bakflip is using it).

Also, it's often better to have tie-down points down low as it will enable items to be secured down to the bed. Hard to imagine how that's done with these rails mounted up high.

By the way, my inexpensive chain solution worked very well last week in Anza-Borrego!

Great to hear it. It is a simple solution, and as my Uncle Earl used to say... Simplicity is Genius!

Did you use bungies to tie off to, ratchet straps or something else?

Has anyone tried to remove the rail covers and see if there are holes underneath ? There are four bed stakes just curious if we could notch the plastic rail and use the tie downs.
