Bed rack for rooftop tent and tonneau

It’s certainly under consideration. Do you happen to know how much the rear section would open with the rack installed? Also, do you have a DYNAMIC weight rating? It wouldn’t have to be much since a RTT usually weighs under 200lbs.

The rear section would probably only crack open a little bit if the rack is mounted over it.

Well, I’m glad you asked. I’m happy to help and even provide you with part numbers for my specific setup, seeing as no one else wanted to reply to your specific questions.

The towers or legs mount to the bed cover. This bed cover is made specifically with built in channels to accept feet for cross bars or rack platforms. Mine is the Pace Edwards Ultragroove, but I know other companies like Roll N Lock make a version. Mine was by far the best looking and best priced for this specific purpose.

I’m reviving this thread because it seems like the best fit and I’m hoping the products have evolved.

I have an Undercover trifold tonneau. if it’s different from the backflip tonneau I can’t see the difference.

I’d like to buy a strong rack for overlanding and carrying Kayaks. I’d like a height-adjustable modular rack, so I can slide it up tall enough to open the trifold or carry kayaks extending over the cab, or have it down closer to the tonneau when we’re carrying overlanding stuff. I’d prefer aluminum, for light weight and lack of rust.

That's a nice looking rack. How much clearance is there over the cab for long items extending forward? 24" tall minus whatever the drop is to the top of the bar looks pretty close to the same height as the cab, at least when I eyeball it.

Looks nice. Doesn't having steel and aluminum components together cause galvanic corrosion and rusting of the steel? Aluminum boats with stainless top snaps tend to rust the snaps and bubble the paint around the snaps unless the two metals are separated by an insulator of some kind.

Do you build all aluminum versions of the same rack?
