thats on my mod list as well, but I'm not going to put them on the aux switch. Normally if I'm going in the bed, I either just walked up to the truck and I'm not going in the cab 1st, or its after I'm getting out of the truck and I'm not going back into the cab again. So the aux switch would be more of a PITA. I plan on just using either a toggle switch mounted under the bed rail right by the tailgate, or a toggle switch in combination with a hood pin switch like you use on alarm systems, and the tonneau cover would trigger it on/off.

I agree with you i might change my mind but i figured i wanted switch in cab just to prevent someone tampering with it. I spose i could hide the switch well but I have yet to use one of my switches so i figure why not. I have couple differnt lights planned out but only had three switches figured so this would be forth.

do you have a bedcover? If you've got a bedcover nobody will really be able to play with it. I plan on mounting it under the rail recessed back just so it's out of the way from cargo moving around and possibly hitting it anyway.

If you don't have a bedcover, the cargo lights in the 3rd brake light light up the bed pretty well, but you could always tie the bed lights into the cargo light so it illuminated off that.

I have best top on there I use for traveling and the dogs. I was bored one day and saw them. I planned on tinting the 3rd brake light so it won't light anything up well. I have help off mainly for lighting up the bed. since right now it gets dark around 4:30pm in winter. The top I have won't stay up all of the time there is a pic of it in wheels section. The switch is waterproof and could easily be mounted in the back. Could easily hide it under the bumper or something to hide it.

I have installed them and they look great. Instead of running the wires forward, under the vehicle, and to a switch (way too much work) I just ran the wires under the bed rails to the rear led markers (there is a small gap under the bed rail at the rear of the vehicle. I took out my tail light and dropped the wire into the tail light area and hooked them up to the led markers). The bed lights now come on when the lights are on, when I open the doors, or when I unlock the vehicle. I didn't see any reason to wire them to a switch. Yes, they are on when I'm driving, but when mounted under the rails they shine down into the bed and don't affect visibility whatsoever.

My bed lighting is from roundeyes.com. I tapped into the hitch plug running lights. My switch is from my rigid industries wiring harness. I'm happy with the set up. AUX usage seemed the wrong way for me to go. I like having the switch back at the tailgate.

I like the idea except that the vehicles electrics are built for a certin wattage... You should make sure you are not over working the system... So, if you have a power source and it has 20 watts available and you are using 15 and you add 7 more you are drawing 22 watts now and the lights will not be as bright and you can burn fuses or the wiring itself...

Hockster, I purchased an LED bed light kit also and when I go to do the install, I'd like to wire them to the cargo light. Could you please give me your expert advice on the best way accomplish this? Thank you sir.
