Looked like they were closed. A bear that spends a lot of time around people can definitely open an unlocked car/truck door, dumpster lid, etc. They can be really clever.

Smarter than the average bear?

Last year I left the garage door open.... and a bear found the garage fridge. He left all the beer but ate half a pot of chili, an entire frozen turkey, couple frozenracks of ribs, two packs of sliced cheese (wrappers and all), and who knows what else that was in the fridge. I will have to find the pics. We had a paddle handle on the door to the house which is right beside the garage fridge and it was unlocked so he could have easily gotten in the house. Now we have sensors on the big garage doors and a slick/round door knob on the house door.
