image.jpg ive raced Moto a good majority of my life. This beadlock wheel is kicking my ass. Anyone mount their own tires? Suggestions other than taking it to a shop to **** it up. I’m reluctant to get out my Moto tire irons.

Go to a specialty hardware store and buy 6-8 longer bolts. Start by torquing down the longer bolts to help seat the bead and then start inserting the standard bolts as the bead further compresses. One by one replace the longer bolts with the standard lengths. Once all the standard length bolts are in, torque to spec and your good to go.

Having changed hundreds of dirt bike tires I would have never imagined this would be such a pain in the ass.

When i went to change the Tpms sensors in my beadlocks from gen 1 to gen 2, it kicked my ass too!! It wasn’t because the bolts were too short, it was getting the tire evenly OVER the edge.
I just missed on two of them and they leaked like a sieve. Finally took them back to my buddy who mounted them in the first place!

I've done tons. It's a young man's game though. The 5 gallon bucket helps for sure. If tires are new and stiff, it's tougher. A drill with "screw" setting dialed back a bit is also helpful for attacking the bolts.

Hold on a second. In looking again at the pic you posted, why would you "bust out the tire irons?" It looks like you have the inner bead of the tire in place. Are you having trouble getting the outer tire bead to seat properly before you mount the bead lock? Outer tire bead usually just lines up with the indention on the outer rim and you clamp the tire between the rim and beadlock.

I had no problem getting the new 37 over the wheel, put the sensor in after I got tire on. Wheel is on a partially full dry wall mud bucket in photo. I’m running into trouble getting the outside bead to seat evenly so I can put the ring on. I’m aware of the process of running the ring down and torquing. I’ve tried to hammer it down with the plastic dead blow, spayed windex, and stood on it. Yes to your question, I can’t get the outer bead to seat. I can only get maybe 80%, this is were I’m wondering if I need to pry it over like a Moto tire with the “tire irons”.
