Well everybody, Fox has finally joined the party in the hyper competitive market of high performance shocks. Lets face it, the vast majority of Raptor owner’s decision to purchase their truck was heavily based on those pretty blue Fox 2.5’ coilovers as standard equipment, thus leaving us to ask the question, is it truly a Raptor if it doesn’t have Fox Shox on it? I can’t say I blame those who went another route when looking for a high performance 3.0” upgrade. Before yesterday, you had no other choice. But now that Fox has joined the party, you can see why they have been dominating in the SCORE and BITD racing series for many years.
RPG is proud to announce that we received a set of pre-production prototypes for our own testing from Fox. This isn’t to say Fox, didn’t do their homework. They have some of the best tuners in the business that have been hard at work guaranteeing them to remain on the top podium in Raptor Land. Believe me when I tell you it’s not just a coincidence that 2009 Baja 1000 Champion Andy McMillin has one of Fox’s leading shock tuners sitting in the passenger seat of his trophy truck helping him lead the way.
This afternoon we spent over 9 hours pounding on the RPG rig to test, test and test some more in the proving grounds of Barstow CA. For those not familiar with Barstow, lets just say it’s has whoop sections the size of VW’s that swallow lesser vehicles whole. Today’s main objective for us was to see if Fox nailed the setup. We already know from having them on the truck the drive is amazing around town and on the highway. The tappets in the rear bypass tubes were virtually impossible to hear and the drive absolutely makes you fall in love with your Raptor all over again. Try to remember the day when you drove it off the lot and hit your first dip, or smoothly glided over your first speed bump waiting to feel the wheels softly rebound unlike any stock truck we have felt before. For many, it was a love affair right from the get go. Unfortunately as time goes on, the passion slowly dims and the once favorite dip in the road is now just another meaningless obstacle. Rest easy fellow Raptor owners; your shot of Raptor ****** has just arrived in the form of a Fox 3.0” front and rear bypass combo.
Lets get down to the nitty gritty and answer the question you have all been waiting for, how do they handle? In one simple sentence, these suckers are down right fast with the Stage 3 setup!!! Let me put it to you this way, section of course I use to cringe going 40-mph over stock, are now blitz at over 60-65mph. I’m not talking about little graded washed out dirt roads. I’m talking about the kind of section that would take a stock raptor and bend it like a wet noodle. Fortunately for us, we have been around big dollar racecars for a long time and have been spoiled. Today I can truly say it was the first time I have driven the RPG rig out in Barstow that had a bit of that race truck feel. This truck is now mandatory roll cage fast if you get ahead of yourself, but lets get back on track.
The primary objective for us this afternoon was to make sure the set up worked with our Stage 3 system. Fox obviously tested with OE leafs and set the shocks up accordingly. RPG’s main goal is to make sure everything we combine works as one unit and not just piecemealed together, and Fox understands this. What will be different about the RPG versions of the Fox 3.0 bypass units from the others is they will be tuned specifically for getting the most out of your Stage 3 setup. Luckily for us, the man behind the curtain at RPG was trained by one of the best in the business at Bilstein, and has an almost voodoo like magic when it comes to suspension setup, and I’ll be dammed if he didn’t work some of that magic this afternoon. By the end of the day the truck was staying on top of the whoops, sucking up holes with ease and was able to keep the back end down on the hardest of kickers. I can honestly say the one word that keeps entering my head as I type this is comfort. Typically the OE stock shocks have a tendency to get hot in a rather short period of time. Thus leading to a spongy ride with very little control of the travel. With the new 3.0’s the ride is simply comfortable and Sometimes its just fun to go out and run at 60 or 70% of your trucks capabilities and take it the sights. With these shocks, plus a Stage 3 setup, what use to be your 110% is now just cruising along at a comfortable 60-70% with out even breaking a sweat. We figure we have about one more day out there to make a few minor tweaks before we are 100% ready to go with the new setup, but believe me when I tell you we are putting in the time and miles on our vehicles, so you can safely and comfortably enjoy yours.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the RPG Stage 4 system is now here. Set it to wide screen and crank those ******* up.

Stoner,
As short as it was, it is always good seeing you brotha. Guys, I'm trying my hardest to get this video done for everyone to see. It seems like there is never enough time in the day. Anyway, we took a big swing at the rear valving and the the rear-end is dialed in. Next up, getting the front to work as good as the rear now. Don't get me wrong, it works insane out of the box. However, I sure most of you have learned by now average doesn't work for us.
Rest assured that when you buy the Fox 3.0 bypass's from RPG we have spent many hours and miles testing in the harshest conditions to make sure these things are dialed in to work in harmony with our Stage 3 kit.
Fox hit a homerun with these shocks no doubt about it. Corey just happen to step up and hit a grandslam to ensure you will have the best working truck available when rocking RPG parts and setup.
Here is some pics to hold everyone over until I get the video done.
Testing, RPG style.
Big thanks to Marc and Rowdy for helping to make all this happen these past few days of testing.
Thank you so much for all the compliments guys.
Stoner answered the question earlier about price, but i just want to let everyone know in case I haven't already. You can by the rear shocks separate. They are $1100 per shock. The fronts have to be sold together because they are side specific.
One thing I forgot to mention was the 1 foot bolder looking like the Matterhorn we slammed into. We were all confident we were going to be changing two tires after that one. BFG Projects are so amazing.
do you guys sell the projects youre running? is so, how muc? and also what size are they, 37" or 39"
