Hi Guys,

Since I'm on lockdown I figured I'd buy some lights to put on my truck.

So far this forum has been a wealth of information.

One question I have is if any one is running the S2 Sport Reverse Light Kit with the Work/Scene Pattern.

My thought is to use these lights to illuminate an area behind the truck for setting up camp, unloading the bed, etc. Run them directly to the up fitter so I can flip them on when need be.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Contact the guys at SPV (specialty performance parts). They’ll hook you up. This is what I’m doing:

Hooking it up to switch 6. Some splice into the reverse which I don’t want to do. Plan on doing them just like you plan. I do like the red backlight of these which match the Raptor perfectly. Great folks to work with too and extremely helpful though there are also other very good and helpful lighting vendors on this forum.

We're one of the largest Baja Designs dealers around, with a full warehouse of lights. So in our time working with Baja, we hear your question a lot.

So for reverse applications, a Wide Cornering is better. It throws the light further and spreads it out.

For campsite use, work/scene is great. The light is spread more in a 360 pattern due to the reflector inside. It's not as good for reverse applications though because it doesn't go as far. Meant for close up applications where you need to flood an area with light.

So honestly it depends on where you think you'll use the lights more. In reverse, or at a campsite.

Since we stock everything you could order the S2 Reverse kit and put a comment on our order to swap out the Wide Cornering for the Work/scene pattern. We'd be happy to make that swap before we ship them. I'd also recommend you grab our upfitter control harness. This lets you control the lights from an upfitter (in addition to automatically when you go in reverse).

You can also do this with the S1 which puts out a bit more light: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-raptor-2017-s1-reverse-light-kit/

We can swap either S1 or S2 out for a Work/Scene Setup.

Shoot me a message when you're ready to pull the trigger. We have all of the various lights/bezels/reflectors/harnesses in stock so we can build you precisely what you need.

Awesome info! Thank you! I'll message you my order.

One more question that might benefit the forum so I'll ask it here:

I want to order the GJ third brake light mount. I don't really want to get the radio set up in my truck at this point and I don't see myself getting one in the future.

How many customers would you say order the third brake light with or without the antenna mount? Do you have many that end up coming back and replacing the one without for one with the mount?

Thank you!

Ohh that's a good question. Honestly it's about 50/50. You could always get it without the mount now and IF you do decide later on you want the mount, GJ does offer (for a price) to have you send in your brake light and they'll cut in/mount the antenna I believe.

I've never had a single customer come back and tell me "damn I wish I got the NMO mount". I run the NMO mount on my truck but honestly, if I use my radio 2 times a year that is a lot. It's nice to have though.

We have a few scratch/dent for sale if you want a non-NMO and want to save some cash. Otherwise we try and keep the GJ Kits on the shelf at all time (but they sell out FAST, not to say you still can't order one, but we try and keep them available for immediate shipping)

Post some photos once you get it all mounted up. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I want the work/ scene so I don’t blast light through my neighbors windows. Thx

Do you see more people going with the S2 or S1 for the reverse light application?

I checked my exhaust the other day and one is slightly closer to the frame where the s2 mounts. I'm thinking the S1 is probably easier to mount.

Yes we do see more people going with the S2 kit over the S1. We offer both kits but the S2 is more popular.

S2 mount just fine on factory exhausts. One easy trick is just loosen the exhaust hanger and you can move the exhaust tip a bit to get your allen key in there. Takes about 10 minutes to get the lights installed.

S1 Reverse Kit: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-raptor-2017-s1-reverse-light-kit/

S2 Reverse Kit (with option to Upgrade to Pros): http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-raptor-2017-s2-reverse-light-kit/

We also have flush mount S1 kits for the Raptor available: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-raptor-2017-s1-flush-mount-reverse-light-kit/
