Ya, thats the standard response. Of course they all come off, but thats not the point.

Assume you are out driving one day and decide to stop by a local flea markets and see a sweet "big" item...then what do you do? Sure its great that you can remove the top.....as long as you plan for it ahead of time...

As far as pricing..seems a bit high compared to retrax or bak-flip which can be had for $1,000.

my 2 cents

This^^^. I won't be replacing my bakflip/bakbox with this. It just seems less convenient. Case-in-point: went to Best Buy to scout appliances for my new house. Wasn't intending on buying anything, but found a deal I couldn't turn down. I live 90 miles away, so going home and removing the tonneau like this would require wasn't an option. I just folded the fibermax out of the way and threw the fridge in the back. Easy peezy lemon squeezy. That being said, I like the idea of it. Make a cover that stacks up on the toolbox and I'd consider it. I like the beefier toolbox.

Asked about black rails and apparantly those are on the way and can be special ordered right now, but I kind of like the silver ones. The hump of the lock is needed to house the codeable locks, which use the same key as your ignition, which I thought was pretty cool. I have heard nothing but horror stories with the likes of Retrax and Roll-N-Lock in the elements of Michigan from snow and rain they don't perform well. That and those are all just lids. I am looking for some organization and storage to my bed without all the stuff rolling up to where I can't reach it.

Ummm, Chicago here...same winters as you....Retrax here...never a problem or issue.

Not to mention, the majority of owners here have the bak-flip or retrax and I never saw a single post of issues or problems due to winter or rain? They both have drain hoses/plugs.

that is nice, I just have trouble droppin that much coin on something like that, Ive always had truxedo roll up covers and I love them, had the same one for 2 silverados over 5 years with no fading, scratches or rips. got one for my raptor the day I bought it and love it just as much, best side note is that it was like $280 and that is bang for your buck right there

Can't beat a soft cover when looking at the price. There isn't any security to them of course and anything you put in the truck bed will roll up to the front and require you to crawl on up there to get it, but they serve the purpose of covering the bed. Never really cared for the look myself. If they fold they have bumps at the folding points and if they are hard with hinges the hinges don't look very tidy, especially after they have seen a winter or two. To each his own though.

My fibermax doesn't seem to be as water tight as the F1 I had on my Toyota. I'm not sure if it's the cover or the ridges on the Raptor's bedsides. While I think it's ok in rain (never checked) it leaks like crazy in the car wash in the corners and middle right over the wheel wells. Haven't really gotten around to taking a look at what the problem could be yet.

I'd be interested in this one if it had a folding cover section.
