It does need shims but they are pre installed. It says it in the manual.

My manual stated that if shims were required they would be included in the package, if none supplied the model number ordered does not require them. The install manual showed pictures of a peel and stick shim to go at each clamp point if needed.

They were probably already on the rails then. It is a real thin piece of plastic.

Mine said the same thing and on the back of the manual is a list of trucks and which ones need shims, the f150 does need them.

Dang I really want a Bakflip, but the guy at the place I went said that it is the worst one he sells. He said that people have actually come back and ordered a different one.
