GEN 2 Baja Squadron Pro Question

Yes. Right now Lucille sports:

1x S8 behind the grille + 2x XL80’s on the pillar mounts
2x B/D SAE
2x B/D squadron pro combo
2x B/D squadron pro spot

the SAE, as many have pointed out are great for a fog light but pale in comparison to the wide corner squadron sport much less the pro.

I’d love to have the vertical cut off of the SAE with power of a squadron sport or pro for sure.

Wide corners were fantastic at lighting up roadside critters. the combos do an adequate job, but not as much as i want but the light is much brighter and projects further than the SAE

i think with a 2nd combo i may be able to make up for the lack of a wide corner light other than the street legal SAE.

Personally, I believe BD ONX+ series is a great value compared the their pod lights. According to ADD, you can mount a 20” straight bar there. I run a 20” ONX+ and it is great. It is bumper mounted and I originally had it in combo. I changed to all wide cornering and it is great. Highly recommend you do the same. Shop around for deals, can be found for around $700 shipped right now.


If the light bar is not your style. Then, I would do 7 squadron Pros clear wide cornering. With the light being mounted so low, you will get much more output on the road and more usable light with the wide corning. The warmer light, in my opinion, is perfect. If you need amber, then you can always keep a few lenses in your truck. Takes a few seconds to change out.

Oh, btw, I would 100% ditch the SAE set up. You can change your current SAE’s to squadron sports FYI if you dont want to hassle with selling and/or losing the money you spent by selling them pre owned.

Interesting i was also looking at the Sport.

Is the sport much brighter then SAE what would be your Personal review 50% brighter you think or?

How much brighter is the pro comparing to sport?

the sports to me r twice as bright as the sae , the pros seem tp be 50 percent brighter than the sports ,pro r way to much light for everyday use ,sports can be done if adjusted right ,wide cornering is the way to go. I also have s2 pros amber wide cornering for snow rain use

But honestly I agree with what he said and he helped me out a while back.

Running driving combo sports let alone pros on the street will be way to bright either way for oncoming traffic. It’s a great light setup in either sport or pro, but your stuck aiming them down to even make them useable on the street and being bumper mounted the spots are already at a disadvantage with not being higher up to project effectively. I have a set on my truck and very bright farther reaching light. But can’t rarely use them around town unless it’s a dead street.

If you have the newer BD SAE’s with the black shield inside, immediately ditch that lens and replace it with a wide cornering clear lens. A got an updated SAE set and thought they had little output to the point I was going to return them. Once I ordered the WC lens set, I was much happier and a bit more light. They still aren’t pro’s but they they are more on the legal side and puts more useable light in front of the truck and compliments the headlights. You can still only aim them so far from the front of the truck before the light vanishes away.

I also have WC Squadrons in amber and really live these. Just don’t aim them too high or people will think a spaceship is landing in front of them. They light up everything around and the ambers just do it I a different way. Not to mention giving your truck an aggressive front appearance when lit.

If you want a farther reaching very potent light set you can use only here and there, get the DC Pro’s as well.

Glad I could help! First part of your comment made me laugh. I have spent a lot of money on lighting. Made some expensive mistakes along the way. Buying higher end lighting, regardless of the company, is a slight gamble. You have an idea, but, you truly have no clue what you are getting sometimes until you plug it in yourself. Which sucks.

Buying higher end lighting, regardless of the company, is a slight gamble. You have an idea, but, you truly have no clue what you are getting sometimes until you plug it in yourself. Which sucks.

Yeah man you summed it up. It’s a gamble and until you buy some and mount it up and see how it performs in your real world, you may never know. I’ve learned a bit so far. Lovin’ that Onyx! Just have to make the decision to block my grill up some with it first. We are already low to mid 90’s down here and high humidity and it’s spring.

Yeah, with that heat and humidity. Gotta make sure you keep that air flow for sure. The light in the photo is just one 20” ONX+ combo. That’s it. Great value. Truly is. I took the combo lens off however. Have the all wide corning in now. It is perfect.

This photo is the all wide cornering. The photo in particular does an ok portrayal but it is absolutely brighter in person. But it gives a good idea of the all wide cornering:



I have other lights that are covering my distance needs. I chose to run the VisionX 6’7” ADV lights. I am pretty happy with them. But, that is totally off topic lol.
