Are you on the gas?

Looks like my intuition was correct. But yeah. You need to be on the gas for turbos to spool and provide full boost. Baja mode is for racing, in the sand, you need to be able to modulate your power. Could you imagine the trouble you’d get into if you wanted a LITTLE more power and suddenly got full boost?

lit sounds like you want it to behave like a road car. It’s not a road car.

But if it’s holding higher boost shouldn’t I see the Turbo gauge registering a reading? It’s not showing anything 90% of the time and I don’t hear the turbos.

Thats what the waste gait controls. Exhaust / RPMs keep the turbo "spooled up", but the ECU controls the waste gate, dictating how much boost is fed back into the intake.

By keeping the RPM's high, the turbo is spooled. But since you were no on the gas, fuel and boost were kept low. As soon as you mash the gas, the waste gait closes, and fuel is added....instant power.

Thanks this makes sense. I'm only a few months into ownership so still trying to learn the modes and when to apply them, just trying to figure out when to use which so it behaves the way I need it when I need it! It looks great at the mall and on my dirt roads ;)

Pretty sure your intuition is not correct. I use Baja mode all the time without racing. Read the manual.

Pretty sure youre talking our your ass. how about you read the entire thread and get some context. OP clearly stated he wasn’t fully on the gas when he wasn’t seeing full boost and when he was on it, he saw full boost.
