Morning Bailey,
Just about to wire this beauty up and then started thinking that I might be able to wire up the backlight feature to my running lights.

Has someone tried this before? Any insight to the wire I would attach the green wire to? Assuming the voltage would be correct.
Thanks!

Hey!

You can definitely wire up the Backlit feature to your running lights. A common way of doing this is using an Add-A-Fuse or similar and tapping into the OEM fuse box underhood or in cab.
All you need to do is run the Green Wire from the S8 to the Add-A-Fuse.

Thank You,
Bailey, Baja Designs

This is what we did on our demo truck. We probed some of the fuses in the fuse panel under the hood till we found one that came on when the truck was on. I then used a little tap-a-fuse and brought that into a custom relay panel I had put in my truck. This turns on 3 sets of amber bars (I used a relay because of the power needed).

So use a tap-a-fuse, bring that into a relay, relay goes to your battery/amber back lighting. Although with the amber back lighting only you probably won't need a relay just make sure your tap-a-fuse has 2 fuses (one for the main fuse you are removing, as it replaces that fuse, and the 2nd one would be for your accessory)
