So help me with this one guys....I installed the Pro light kit and was running the harnesses. I saw CJ you tube video and tried it his way. Needless to say I will find another route more like Speeddeamons. So I ran the 55inch splitter over the skid plate as CJ suggested. So no power wires were connected...None. When I snugged the harness up above the skid plate smoke SMOKE!!! So much I could not see the wires form the top. WTF. no Power connection was every made to the battery. The splitter harness melted. Hot!! burn you hot. What the heck did it contact and even if it did find something all the wires are coated and double protected. Baja Dude said maybe hot exhaust but the truck hadn't been running in two days . Any ideas ?

You are saying that the only connection was at the lights and no upfitter/power connection? So no power connection and a cold engine? That doesn’t make any sense at all. There had to be a heat source, whether mechanical or electrical. The wires are insulated, but not to exhaust manifold degree of temps, by the way.

I’m not familiar with CJ install method, but my 55” harness ran from upfitters to passenger side fog pocket. There wouldn’t be enough length to run across the skid plate so you must have an additional harness I’m assuming.

I agree it dosent mske sense...no power to wires...cold engine...completely insulated wires...is there maybe hot wire to stater or something else there?

Sorry about this. That is very odd and definitely not normal. Is it possible the wires accidentally touched a power source while you were working under the truck? They certainly won't melt the harness unless high heat is involved or accidentally having the wires short. Please keep us in the loop if you find a potential culprit

Hello! I bought the unlimited kit and installed them a few months ago. They are CRAZY bright, which is the point... but I didn’t realize they are so bright I can never use them on the road. I get flashed all of the time when I have them on, so now I leave them off.

I know the sportmen kit has less than half the lumens of the unlimited kit, but is this dim enough to use on the road?

You can certainly use the Sportsmen on the road. The S2 Sports, which come with the Sportsmen and Pro Kits, put out a nice amount of light, but not so much you'll get into trouble on the roads. Whenever we have customers who want to stay within legal limits, we always recommend the Sportsmen or Pro kits, since those S2s would be nice for regular fog use. However the S2 Pros, which come in the Unlimited kit, COULD be a bit bright for some folks on the road. I personally like the S2 Pros as fogs, BUT a lot of folks do have concerns where they live, in which case, yeah go with the S2 Sports.

If you ordered from us we can work out an exchange for the S2 Pro to S2 Sportsmen, just shoot me a message. I don't know if you bought from us or another dealer though, but throwing that out there for ya.
