Hello! I bought the unlimited kit and installed them a few months ago. They are CRAZY bright, which is the point... but I didn’t realize they are so bright I can never use them on the road. I get flashed all of the time when I have them on, so now I leave them off.

I know the sportmen kit has less than half the lumens of the unlimited kit, but is this dim enough to use on the road?

You can certainly use the Sportsmen on the road. The S2 Sports, which come with the Sportsmen and Pro Kits, put out a nice amount of light, but not so much you'll get into trouble on the roads. Whenever we have customers who want to stay within legal limits, we always recommend the Sportsmen or Pro kits, since those S2s would be nice for regular fog use. However the S2 Pros, which come in the Unlimited kit, COULD be a bit bright for some folks on the road. I personally like the S2 Pros as fogs, BUT a lot of folks do have concerns where they live, in which case, yeah go with the S2 Sports.

If you ordered from us we can work out an exchange for the S2 Pro to S2 Sportsmen, just shoot me a message. I don't know if you bought from us or another dealer though, but throwing that out there for ya.

We DO NOT recommend using any of our kits with oncoming traffic. Even the sportsmen kit is too bright for the street! You could possibly use just the S2 Sports in Wide Cornering but I would not recommend using the Squadrons. These are intended for off-road use or use when no oncoming traffic is around.

This year we will be offering something SAE approved for applications where a street-friendly light is necessary.

Looks like the Baja legal department got involved.

We will sell you blindingly bright lights; you just can't use them, unless you're in the desert, jungle, or woods. And, please be considerate to the wildlife, and not use your lights when it is dark, if there are animals in the area. LOL. Too funny.

Well yeah that's what I meant, just running the S2 Sports (not the rest of the lights). But you can certainly run the Squadron Sports as well if aimed correclty (afterall Baja offers F150 fog kits utilizing Squadron Sports).

I know with the recent upgrades on the Squadron Sports they have more lumen so that's throwing everything into a frenzy with the kits now. Sports were great with the old brightness for those "fog" applications but not with EVEN MORE lumen, it kinda screws things up for fog kits

Yeah they have to cover their arses of course. Not that I disagree either... a guy I work with upgraded his Squadron Sports to Squadron Pros for his F150 fog kit... WAY too bright.

All we ask is to be considerate of other drivers. Never said anything about wildlife
Safety is a big reason for running our lights, I'd rather see an elk and have a chance to react vs. having it come through the windshield. I still turn them down as soon as oncoming traffic is around.

I run Squadron Pro wide/cornering with amber lenses and don’t get any flashes by oncoming traffic but I have them aimed pretty low. I always turn the driving/combo off with oncoming traffic because of the spots.

I have to ask, did you not realize these lights would be too bright for on road use with traffic?

I have FRL’s Pro setup, along with the 10” OnX6 plus, and would not leave them on for oncoming traffic. Way to bright. I could only imagine the unlimited set being ridiculous. Hell even the KC’s with the amber lenses are bright to oncoming traffic.

On a side note, awesome lighting!! I’ll never own any other brand. Everyone was right, spend the money once and be done. And I just got my rebate check from the Black Friday sale......
