Thx brother I saw that. Wanted a better photo. Better clarity of the splice.

The splice crimps onto the factory reverse light wire. It's Baja Designs' upfitter harness, which crimps onto the wire. So no soldering or cutting is involved. You just crimp it on with a pair of needle-nose and then attach the ground wire to one of the many factory bolts in the back. And you are good to go.

Ahh it's a piece of cake, it really is. It's the first mod I did on my own truck and one of the best (I did the S2 kit personally as it's all that was available at the time AND I like the rectangle look of the S2, goes with the bumper more I think).

Have you ever had any issues with this type of splice/crimp?

Yes, as has anybody who's ever used a "crimp" on connector. They can all have issues as they are simply crimping THROUGH the wire. It's not just Baja Designs, so it's not their fault. It's all these crimp on connectors.

We always recommend folks strip back some of the wire (don't cut the entire wire just strip a little of the outer cover back, exposing the wire). Then when you crimp down it's metal on metal contact.

That's what I did for my own rear lights and i've not had an issue since.

Using BD wiring harnesses and retrofitting additional lighting. BD has great customer service. They hooked me up with the correct plugs for a clean install. Cheers!
