I am brainstorming an idea. Was curious what you guys think about putting a BD S1 in the tow hitch. Will it fit? Could it be pulled off?

Appears like it will slide in nice and tight.

Not a very popular idea to be honest. Neat, but not popular. We sell a hitch reverse light but it's not popular because folks usually just mount lights to their bumper so they never have to worry/think about it:

I like the idea. I used my hitch one time in 18 months, just to take a hitch rack to my buddy. The idea of a singe revers light in the center seems like it could work.

I would actually jump on the one in the picture from 4x4truckled, but i have 1 inch to spare in my garage, that thing looks like it would make my truck not fit, so that is no buneo.

While it might fit in there, I can see a couple problems with this. First, you wouldn't be able to use the bracket, which is not just for holding the light in place, but for for aiming the light. You are saving money, and the output from one may be enough, but not as nice as 2. You also aren't going to get the reverse wiring that comes with the kit, so you'll either need to buy the reverse wiring separately (if possible) or do something custom.

Maybe most importantly, the fins on the back of the light are for heat dissipation, and I can't imagine inside the hitch will be very helpful for dissipating heat.

Installing reverse lights with a kit is very easy to do.

We actually had a customer share with us his install process for this exact setup. Check it out! :) He created a tap in to his 7 pin connector and made it so he can easily remove it when he's using his tow hitch.

Interesting! That answers my question if that light would fit it there. Success. I wonder if a vendor could hook me up with a 7 pin connector plug in for a 2014 Ram 1500 with an S1.

I would also interested in this:

Not a bad option if your not constantly using your hitch. I’d love to see what the light output would look like out the rear with this light.

It’s a fairly clean look, other than the bright clear lens out back.

I bought this for my lifted Jeep of of eBay. At the time all I could find was a cheap led light that I held it in place with two set screws. It made it so much easier loading ant dusk/dark. I just wired it to the reverse lights
