I believe in preventive maintenance, with any of the times that you bring your truck in for a service is that something that is included or do you have to request for it to be done and pay the extra time it takes?

Not sure on that one check with your dealer, I use Wurth silicone weatherstripping seal grease on it.

From what I've read here, you will need to maintain your moonroof yourself. All it requires is keeping it lubed with the proper lubricant. Since I don't have one, I didn't pay much attention and I'll leave it to you to search out the information. IIRC @Donmatteo started a thread about his breaking that ended up having a lot of useful information in it.

Nope the Gen 1 sunroofs are garbage as well.

From Audi to Subaru to Honda they all use metal frames and guide rails

In fords infinite wisdom they use plastic bits and pieces includihg their premium models.

None of them are "garbage". I've personally had 4 myself - 2015 Edge Sport, (2) 2017 Fusions, and (1) 2018 F-150 XLT in the desert heat and never had a failure. I rarely used them either. This conspiracy that Ford somehow designs a part to fail is absurd; they're in the business of making money, not losing money.

As far as Subaru, they employ plastic as well. Subaru can't even figure out how to make a reliable sunroof, never mind a moveable glass panel the size of an F-150.

"On closer inspection I also found inside one of the runners what looks like a bit of broken plastic (photo). I'm guessing it's part of the slide mechanism that allows everything to move around and up and down freely and pushes the glass into the roof at the end of the close.

Anyway long story short, is the plastic/nylon bit replaceable (without taking out the complete mechanism and the roof lining etc), and is there anything else that may be broken I should be looking for, as this bit of plastic doesn't seem to be enough to stop the roof closing properly?"

I don't waste my time on that garbage, take it to the dealer. But head gaskets I'll do all day, and without removing the engine.

As in my Gen 1 Raptor sunroof broke and it was a non pano roof, and I figure eventually my Gen 2 Raptor pano roof will break as well. The guide rails on my STI are aluminum not sure there probably are some plastic pieces in there but for the most part they will last a long time such as Audi and BMW.

also never have had a head gasket issue with any Subie I have owned.
