Axle problem on 2017 Raptors (news)

I'm confident they will get this right, until dates are pushing beyond December we don't need to panic.

The Gen 2 actually is quite a bit different than the F150 where the Gen 1 is an F150 submodel. The Gen 2 uses a different frame, motor, suspension, body. The Gen 1 was just the suspension and body. Fairly significant difference as those are major components. Kind of funny when when people say "It's not an SVT" when in fact it's a lot more special than the Gen 1 ever was.

Different frame, yes. Motor is a high output version but basically the same motor with some upgraded parts. Suspension, yes. Body, same body with different fenders.

Gen 1 actually had a different motor and not just a tweaked version.

Gen 2 truck on paper should exceed the performance of the Gen 1 on all counts except exhaust note.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above.

6.2 was used in ford super dutys also not just dedicated to raptors

Gen1 did not have a different motor. The same 6.2 was optional all F150s.

I had a 2010 F150 Lariat Supercrew and don't remember having the option to order with the 6.2L. Looks like it became available across the line later.

I agree 2010 f150 had a 5.4. Maybe the next year had one.

Got this from Car and Driver - In other V-8 news, the top eight-cylinder for 2011 will be the big, 6.2-liter “Boss” V-8 already seen in the 2011 Raptor 6.2. For 2011, at least, it will be the only engine available in the off-road special. Rated at 411 hp at 5500 rpm and 434 lb-ft at 4500 rpm, the 6.2 will tow a hefty 11,300 pounds and will be the featured engine in special-edition models such as the F-150 Harley-Davidson and aforementioned Raptor. It also will be offered as an option on Platinum models and will be the base engine in the F-series Super Duty. The engine features two spark plugs per cylinder and variable valve timing, and is the most powerful V-8 available in the light-duty pickup segment.

2011 F150 Harley Davidson, Limited, and Platinum's could get a 6.2L. Starting in 2012 they added the 6.2L to the FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. I believe in 2013 they added it to the XL and XLT too, but those are super rare.

The 2010 1/2 Raptor was the first to get the 6.2L High Output at 411 HP

The 2011 and up F150, Super Duties and SD Vans had the option for the 6.2L but only 385 HP.

Cam and Tuning made most of the difference between the two.

So what you're saying is that Jen 1s aren't really the top dog. It's the super rare XL with the 6.2...
