This is what I would recomend also. The monthly fee is well worth the ease of use.so I just bought a sim card for it and it now has it's own plan. $20 a month to never have to worry about the connection again. I've completely disconnected my phone and no longer use carplay on it. It has native apps for waze, audible, spotify, etc so no need for me.
It seems im doing something wring trying to get the unit to connect to my I phones wifi or hot spot. The network connection issue is the message i get. What do you mean watch youtube? You can just download the app, or you can open the browser? The phone connection, and having to manually reconnect ofetn, is my biggest complaint about this unit, so I just bought a sim card for it and it now has it's own plan. $20 a month to never have to worry about the connection again. Yeah, I got tired of the inconsistent phone reconnect so the standalone sim fixed it. On your first issue, it's a common issue and I believe Autotec has even said that's intentional and there's no way to disable it from going to the console. It is weird cause sometimes it will go to the console, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it'll open up the last app I had open (usually spotify), sometimes it will start playing the radio, sometimes it doesn't. Very inconsistent in it's behavior. There's actually some guys on the F150 forum that are really good with this radio, may be worth looking that up and asking over there.Sounds like this is what I'll have to do to take care of my second concern above. I wondered if anyone had come up with a fix for it yet, but it doesn't look like it.
