Auto stop start and turbos

Wow! 2 cylinders less, 500 pounds lighter, closing Rad vents, stop start tec, etc and barely 2 mpg better then my Gen 1 6.2 dinosaur. Impressive! Designed to work, yeah that's always
a guaranty of functionality!
i doubt that cast iron dinosaur under your hood is averaging anywhere near 16.7 but thanks for trolling the Gen2 section. My trip meter got reset @ 99 miles and hasn't been reset since. I've been averaging about 18.7 for the last 26K + miles.

didn’t you check out all those links? Gen 1 owners were obsessed with MPGs. toting their slide rule, calculator, pen, and post it pad along with their tried and true pocket protectors to calculate mileage while sipping lattes at starbucks.

let’s be honest, most of us g2 owners are still having trouble with starbucks drive thrus.

Someone mentioned few scenarios where you would go from “zero to hero” throttle immediately after the engine stopped automatically. Here’s another

You’re stopped, about to turn left onto a divided highway, a busy one, and you need to get going quick. Or, you spy an emergency vehicle approaching your 6 and you need to boogie R.F.N. (to get out of their way, not flee). Sure, if you’re paying attention, you can let off the brake enough to start the engine before, but if you’re caught unaware, it’s not ideal.

not correct. When i filled my 6.2 the miles to empty depending on the season was always 350-400. My 18 is always over 500. I drive lots of city , prob 60 miles a day. The 3.5 does way better than the 6.2

When I'm stopped about to turn left on to a divided highway, my foot is typically very light on the brakes, to the point i'm either inching forward or barely enough force to keep it from rolling, this prevents start/stop from engaging. If I'm making a right hand turn on a red light, the wheels are turned at an extreme enough angle that Start/Stop doesn't engage. If I'm at a dead stop and see an emergency vehicle, I don't panic and floor my car either since that would typically involve ramming into the car in front of me or running a red light and getting plowed by cross traffic.

It's as if they thought this whole start/stop thing through... Go figure.

the only reasons auto start stop was implemented is the MPG war between manufactures to eeekk out that smidge more over the competition in the city MPG testings. and the 'bonus' of appealing to those that think this is a move towards 'going green'.

while it varries how much 'harm' they do with the start/ stop effect over the life of the vehicle, i'm glad i dissabled mine with FORscan.

I’m impressed with the numbers all of you are getting. I am 100% stop and go city driving in 90 plus degree temps and no matter how fn’ slow I drive I can’t do better than 13. If I actually drive the truck like I was misled by Ford to believe it was meant to be driven I get 11. Don’t get me wrong on the rare occasion I actually get to see a highway the mpgs jump up into the 20’s. Still beats my old H2 so I’m not complaining...

Who's the uneducated troll...look in the mirror! Judging from your join date you didn't own a Gen 1. I did and put a 100K miles on her before selling & buying a Gen 2! I have compared similar driving habits (250 mile trips mostly cruise controlled). One direction I see 15mpg Gen1 & 17mpg Gen2 and on the return trip I see a 2mpg drop respectively. I only have 6K miles so far on the Gen2 but she should be broke in by now its not a diesel. People generally see in others what they themselves possess.
