Just to clarify

Just to clarify.

I don't mind the auto start/stop at all. I actually like the idea.

I'm just wondering if this is placing excessive amounts of wear on components and if it utilizes the starter motor.

The smaller ecoboost motors don't untilize the starter motor to auto start/stop. The engines shut off in a certain position and is restarted simply by firing the selected cylinders again.

The annoying thing about auto start/stop is when you pull up to the exit at a Starbucks, and have to pause for traffic, but 1 sec before you decide to go, the engine stops and restarts. I know, the truck should always be in Baja mode when going to Starbucks, but sometimes you forget when all you can think about is the double pumpkin spice latte.

Some are disabling it though FORSCAN but still curious how it's working out for those who have used this method.

Living in Houston, where it already is hot and humid, the Auto Start/Stop is a total fail. I now have a reflex habit of pressing the Starter when I get in the truck, and immediately press the button to defeat Start/Stop.

If you leave it enabled, and come to a stop where it shuts off the engine, you lose power steering (which admittedly isn't a huge deal), but the real killer is that you lose the A/C compressor. The fan runs, but no A/C.

In Houston this is merely unacceptable. I know you can defeat the Start/Stop by having Max A/C, but I paid to have a tech-advanced truck and I like using the Auto Temp settings. I absolutely hate this dumb-ass feature.

I disabled it in forscan a couple of weeks ago and have now completely forgotten it even existed.

I assume this is the code you used?

No 'side-effects'? Does it give you any messages on start or anything annoying as a result?

I think that's the code. It was whatever was posted when it was figured out.

No warnings or anything. It just stopped stopping.

The first week I had my truck, I shut it off on nearly every start up.
It doesn't bother me anymore so now I rarely shut it off.

I agree with the wear and tear plus I feel waiting at a light with AC on radio etc all on with no engine with strain batt/aternator etc let alone the starter. I disable with I start up and drive off
