I had a headlight (low beam) burn out on me this week. I pulled the assembly to replace the bulb and this is what I found.....

I purchased the truck as a 9k mile trade in to the local Porsche/Ferrari dealer. The original owner, a Dr, sunk ton of cash in the truck during the short time he owned it (I was told wifey didn't like it :laughing1:). Well, it looks like he upgraded the headlights as well. I'm assuming this is a HID set up but I am completely ignorant on such things. What do I have here? What do I need to do to replace my "Bulb"?

Educate me! :signs75:

Thanks in advance!....................

yes those are cheap HID's from china. try swapping the bulb to the other side. if the bulb lights the ballast(the silver box with blue film on it that should of been pulled off during install) is bad. if the bulb does not light then the bulb is bad. best bet is go retrofit but if u cant swing it then get a whole new kit. keep ur old good components as a backup

DONT touch the bulbs with your bare hands! the oil on ur hands will make the bulbs burn out sooner

Wow! Thanks for the fast reply.

Does the fact the "High Beam" still works tell you anything about the ballast?

Money is not an issue. If this is junk then it has to go! What do you recommend? Can anything from this installation be saved (wiring/fittings etc)?

Thanks again for the help!

that high beam runs off the normal 12 volts. its not really even a high beam. i have the same setup on mine. u have a few options
1-similar kit u have there. look up burkemotorpro on ebay i have them on my truck, they r cheap and they work fine.
2-go to the retrofitsource or one of our vendors and get a quality name brand kit.
3-the best option! get a retrofit headlight setup. click on the raptorretrofit logo on the side. check them out there is no comparison

If both high beams are out then it could've blown a fuse.

I say get Ducati Raptor Retrofit HID Headlights!!!

Worth EVERY penny!

He stands behind his no question asked warranty.

from his website:

"Our warranty is unmatched in the retrofit world. We offer a full 2 year warranty on any product sold. If a ballast or relay were to fail we will overnight you a replacement part first along with a return shipping label for the defective part, no questions asked. Other retrofit companies will have you send them the part first then issue a replacement.

We also guarantee the quality of our work. If for any reason you are unhappy with your retro, we will work with you to get it right by offering a free replacement. If you decide not to keep the retro we will send a prepaid shipping label and a full refund when we receive the lights."

Amazing customer service!
